He is one of the spiritual architects of Anatolia. He is a friend of Allah who contributed greatly to the spiritual growth and development of the Ottoman Empire by educating many students, especially Hacı Bayram-ı Veli. He is nicknamed “Somuncu Baba”. His name is in the sources; It is mentioned as Hamid-i Veli, Sheikh Hamidi Veli, Hamiduddun-i Veli, Hamid Hamideddin-i Veli.

Sheikh Hamid-i Veli Somuncu Baba was born in 1331 in the Akçakaya village of Kayseri. His father is Şemsettin Musa Efendi, one of the Khorasan saints who came to Anatolia for spiritual conquest. Hamidi Veli, who lived during the reign of Yıldırım Beyazıt Khan, one of the Ottoman Sultans, is a noble sayyid descended from the 24th generation of our Prophet (Sallalahu Alayhi wa Sallam). He received his first education from his father and then continued his education in Damascus, Tabriz, Hoy and Ardebil. He benefited from the spirituality of Bayazid-i Bestami and returned to Anatolia after obtaining a license from Alaaddin-i Erdebili.
