After President Erdogan emerged victorious from the ballots in MAY, the significance and depth of ISTANBUL became more important. Although we may not see it the same way or evaluate what’s happening on the same equation, the struggle was significant. In fact, the first step for the elections came with PKK attacks. While unprecedented attacks by the PKK in snow and cold were unseen, the terrorist organization targeted base areas in Northern Iraq at the beginning of JANUARY.

Two attacks were carried out. We had martyrs. At the same time, a surprise candidacy move for ISTANBUL came from Selahattin Demirtas’ wife, Basak Demirtas. Then KANDIL came into play. Terrorists were sent to the Caglayan Courthouse. Some names were killed, and actions were seen in mosques. US bases in the region became breathless due to armed drone attacks. Yasar Guler to Hakan Fidan and Ibrahim Kalin made important visits to Northern Iraq.

So, what was happening? The answer to this question was important, critical even, to understand both the elections and ISTANBUL! Let’s open up…

Basak Demirtas stepped forward with a surprise move. She took an unexpected step and said, “Our party DEM Party has not yet received a proposal for the ISTANBUL candidacy. If the people demand it and if our party finds it appropriate, and if we believe it will pave the way for democracy and social peace, we can consider it.” This was a very critical move. It meant the dissolution of the components of even the secret and overtly established TABLE of Kemal Kilicdaroglu and the separation of paths with DEM. It was clear how much support Demirtas gave to the table in the May 14 elections. Demirtas, who posted on his social media account, “May Allah bless Turkiye’s 13th President Mr. Kilicdaroglu” announced that he would vote for Kilicdaroglu with the words “I believe with all my heart that you will end the division, restore social peace, and bring prosperity and peace to Turkiye.”

HDP was leaning towards an ALLIANCE when it blocked its own candidacy path. When the desired results did not come, DEMIRTAS announced that he would quit and withdraw from politics. This move from Basak Demirtas came on top of this traffic. Basak Demirtas’s move brought great controversy. Galip Ensarioglu became the agenda with his statement during the period when Basak Demirtas’s DEM Party Istanbul candidacy was discussed, saying, “If Basak Demirtas becomes a candidate, the issue of Imamoglu is closed.” Mrs. Demirtas would clearly make Imamoglu lose. Everyone who controlled the political pulse agreed. But, one hand intervened. Both Selahattin Demirtas and his wife were pushed aside. They were told to “Continue” the alliance with CHP. While waiting for whether Basak Demirtas would be a candidate or not, I shared the sentences meaning “It’s not easy. Don’t be sure until you see the result” here. And so it happened.

MUSTAFA KARASU, one of the most important figures of the PKK in EUROPE, who participated in the negotiations in OSLO, made a statement. Karasu said, “It is necessary to carry out this struggle by uniting with the democracy forces in Turkiye, strengthening alliances, embracing existing alliances, and valuing alliances. Everyone should be sensitive about alliance and cooperation…” and said “STOP” to Basak Demirtas.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-8052133319358801" data-ad-slot="5999284211" data-ad-format="auto" data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>

When Basak Demirtas was not allowed to move further, Demirtas said, “Basak Demirtas’ candidacy announcement was to strengthen our party, and the withdrawal announcement was also known by our party. All these processes were carried out together,” he made a soft transition. The reality was that the traffic between EUROPE-KANDIL increased, and in ANKARA, the decision to continue and strengthen Imamoglu’s candidacy among the centers with specific weight in Turkiye was taken.

DEM-CHP collaboration, partnership has become visible with its reflection from the depths of EUROPE to Kandil. So, the connection between EUROPE and KANDIL, which occupies an important place within Turkiye as well, has opposed to the emergence of a candidate who would reduce the votes of Imamoglu. Basak Demirtas could not be a CANDIDATE due to this balance. Both he and his wife had to back down.

This ALLIANCE did not want President Erdogan to win ISTANBUL, and thus to achieve a second victory after the MAY elections, and objected to establishing a new CONSTITUTION and having good relations with the USA. Or rather, it did not want PRESIDENT ERDOGAN to continue on his own as the sole game changer. The ISTANBUL elections would therefore bring GLOBAL consequences, not just LOCAL ones. Erdogan was working for this…

Starting with Can Atalay, the tension between the Constitutional Court and the Court of Cassation, which reached the point of threat, language preference related to the Judiciary, news about the Council of State issuing a large number of decisions to reinstate many jurists and police officers in recent days, are all related to the new CONSTITUTION and the position Turkiye will cover. This fight is not only outside our borders but also within… The exaggerated publication of news about various religious communities in recent times was also part of this plan… It would be correct to evaluate Kemal Kilicdaroglu’s dismissal in this context as well. The ideological fight among lieutenants at the Tuzla Infantry School and its consequences too…

President Erdogan meets with the United Arab Emirates, reconciles with the Saudis, and resolves the tension with Egyptian leader SISI. Important figures from Washington came to Ankara, and MIT Chief Ibrahim Kalin and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan were going to the USA. Strategic studies were in full swing. After the USA, the two names met with Defense Minister Yasar Guler. So, the three figures who made important contacts in Northern Iraq were evaluating the current situation.

All of these developments were directly related to where President Erdogan would take Turkiye. The crisis in DEM, the pushing back of the Demirtas, the opening of the way for Imamoglu, the desire to stop AK Party in ISTANBUL, were all part of the GLOBAL struggle looking towards Turkiye. The clarity, length, and direction of the path to be opened towards 2028 would be revealed with this election. It was necessary to look at DEM and CHP from here and understand what was happening. It would also be beneficial to read the attitude of IYI PARTY from here.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-8052133319358801" data-ad-slot="5999284211" data-ad-format="auto" data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>

The role of Refah Party against AK PARTY too… Even Abdullah Gul’s photograph taken during an interview for the memorandum could be interpreted in this context… When Gul said, “Many friends known as Westernizers opposed the memorandum, but many friends who considered themselves ‘traditional’ and ‘local’ made more effort for the memorandum to win,” it was a sign of the attitude he would take in the coming days. At least, that’s how I read it.

From a distance, many names and events that seemed unrelated to each other were in the center. Our habits and the way we read prevented us from seeing this. In the coming period, steps would be taken to change the dynamics of the region. It’s clear! There were those who didn’t want this as much as those who did. The parties and positions were clear. The Istanbul elections would tell us about the rhythm of what would happen, the violence and shape. The ISTANBUL elections were within the range of the invisible government besides the visible government… Inside, there was a quiet and wearing struggle. With one step outside… Look at the range from the developments in the economy to HAMAS like this… Because only ONE SCENE won’t tell you much…

Follow us on Facebook

READ ALL ARTICLES

12.03.2024

Global Election Tension is rising as we head towards LOCAL elections, or rather ISTANBUL elections.
