The International Monetary Fund (IMF) suggested that the global economic growth rate will decline from 3.4 percent to 2.9 percent this year due to the Russia-Ukraine war and the ongoing fight against inflation.<\/p>\n
IMF updated its report with the title “Inflation Reaches Peak In Low Growth Environment”. In the report, it was stated that interest rate hikes by central banks to fight inflation and the war launched by Russia in Ukraine continued to suppress economic activity. While the IMF raised the Euro Zone economy’s growth forecast for this year from 0.5 percent to 0.7 percent, it revised its 2024 forecast to 1.6 percent from 1.8 percent. The growth forecast of the German economy, which was previously predicted to shrink by 0.3 percent this year, was increased to 0.1 percent.<\/p>\n
Growth projections for the next year were also lowered from 1.5 percent to 1.4 percent for Germany, from 1.3 percent to 0.9 percent for Italy, and from 2.6 to 2.4 percent for Spain. .The growth forecast of the French economy for the next year was left unchanged at 1.6 percent. It was noted that the UK economy, which was previously predicted to grow by 0.3 percent this year, is expected to shrink by 0.6 percent in 2023.<\/p>\n
