The plot of this Salahuddin series needs to be more developed along with the stories of the characters involved. It’s too predictable; almost boring…fighting continuously. The characters, especially Salahuddin and his men, need to be rounded out with more real life included in the episodes; like marriage, wives, children and the challenges they bring to their lives. How about making it more interesting by having the African soldier tell his backstory about how he came to be a part of Salahuddin’s special group of soldiers. Expand his speaking part, and those of the great archer on his team, and the others. This series has great talented actors. Please start expanding their roles and using their abilities in ways other than swinging a sword and plotting escapes.

I have to say I’m disappointed by this Salahuddin Ayyub series. At first, I was excited to see familiar actors in this series who had also appeared in the excellent Resurrection: Ertugral, but, as mentioned above, Salahuddin’s cliff-hangers became boringly predictable after the first three. That said, I hope there ARE more episodes to come because leaving it trailing with the death of Karatekin (sp?) is hardly a satisfying conclusion. Nothing is resolved. Bad guys are not punished, and it makes it seem Salahuddin’s effort to protect Islam from the other two Abrahamic religions is futile.
Another complaint: too many new characters introduced out of nowhere for no reason beyond getting in Salahuddin’s way.
I’m biased, I suppose because I watched Resurrection: Ertugral so often. It was a series with characters to care about, to admire and to despise. There was a clear line of good vs. evil, and while it took a while for the evil to be punished, justice prevailed always. Any other Turkish historical drama will be pale by comparison in my eyes.
